PRISON: GOD'S SECRET
PLACE
One of the prisoners wrote in his testimony that prison is one of God's secret places. That is where God
works to bring lost souls to repentance and salvation in Christ. We hope that these pages written by and about
prisoners will encourage Christians to join God's work of regeneration among the incarcerated.
I waited patiently for the Lord, and He inclined
to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon
a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth, Praise to God. Many will see it and fear,
and will trust in the Lord. (Psalms 40:1-3)
As you know, one of the greatest witnesses to the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the dramatically changed
life of one who accepts Jesus into his/her life. When God brings a soul out of the pit of sin and darkness and
gives them new life in Christ, they have a new song of praise to God. It reminds me of the story in Luke 18:35-43;
the blind beggar (who represents the spiritually blind lost sinner) as Jesus passed by cried out "Jesus, have mercy on me!". Those around Jesus rebuked the man and told
him to be quiet. We tend to think some souls are not worthy of God's help. But Jesus stopped and helped him. He
did as the man asked; He gave the man his sight. "Immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God." Not only did the healed man give praise; it says that "all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God." After Jesus touched the man, he was no longer blind, he was no longer a beggar.
We don't know what became of him but I expect he became a great disciple and soul winner for Christ.
